1: Dragon's Gold

The Prophecy: A Roundear there Shall Surely be; Born to be Strong, Raised to be Free; Fighting Dragons in his Youth; Leading Armies, Nothing Loth; Ridding his Country of a Sore; Joining Two, then uniting Four; Until from Seven there be One; Only then will his Task be Done. When Kelvin was a child, his mother read to him from the Book of Prophecy and he asked what the poem meant. Now he was about to learn. The Kingdom of Rud languishes under the heel of a usurper; an evil sorcerer has taken the throne in the name of his wicked daughter. Even deep in the forest, away from all power, the people tremble and await the day of prophecy's fulfillment. It cannot come too soon: Charlain and her children are soon to lose their home to the tax collector. But Kelvin and Jon have other plans. they have found a dragon's territory, where scales of purest gold, shed by the dragon, lie free on the ground for anyone with courage, or innocence, to take. And the words of Mouvar the prophet echo across Rud.

Piers Anthony should be ashamed for putting this out. In movies, you always want to show, don't tell. In a book you should always TELL. A girl in a dream is the magic solution to all plot holes in this book, and there are a ton of them. Save your time and money, get Goblin Quest instead.

Although I've never heard of the storyline it was as always....a stellar GA production that kept me entertained from beginning to end. Keep up the incredible work!

I wasn't sure what Kelvin of Rud was even going to be about, about as close to fantasy as I've purchased previously from GA was Templar Chronicles, but the preview was good, and the main character appeared to be voiced by David Coyne (the voice of Ted Rockson, from Doomsday Warrior my favorite GA title), so I gave it a try (was trying to burn time till Civil War came out). It was really good. The premise is a bit strange as the title isn't "pure fantasy" (I don't do spoilers in my reviews) but it worked in the end. The narrator was really good (though it took me a while to stop feeling like it was story time in Chen's Dojo deep inside Century City, from the Doomsday Warrior series, where I'm familiar with the narrator from playing Al Chen), and the individual characters were all really good (though Kelvins sisters accent was really way stronger than any other character in the stories, and could be toned down a little). The beginning of the story had me mad at the sister, who it seems just can't take her brothers advice no matter what, but she grows on you as the story progresses. About my only problem with the story (nothing on Graphic Audio's part) was that the pacing of it isn't like most other Fantasy stories, where you have some dilemma, it's resolved, another, up, down, problem resolution... In Kelvin of Rud, it seems no one can catch a break, and it isn't till the end that everything is ultimately wrapped up. Overall I'd suggest it to friends, and will be getting the next Kelvin and one after that, and it's definitely worth a listen.

Dragon's Gold was even better than I thought it would be! GA has always accomplished amazing things with their productions, but they've really kicked it up a few notches in the past year. Kelvin of Rud promises to be another of their outstanding series, and I'm ready for Book 2: Serpent's Silver. It would be awesome if they could produce Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality as well. So if you're a true fan...of Graphic Audio...of Piers Anthony...of fantasy...give this a try!
